New treatements for mesothelioma

Usually mesothelioma is treated through surgery and radiation therapy. Recently alternative means of attacking the cancer have been found.

There is a product called Oncanase, from the company Alfacell, which destroys cancer cells while leaving healthy, normal cells intact. It does this is a manner similar to RNA interference.

Another approach involves the cream Aldara, which is normally used to treat skin cancer. In mice injecting this cream into the tumor showed promise.

While these treatements are only experimental it shows that discoveries are being made constantly on methods to treat mesothelioma and other cancers.
